St Fillan’s church building is a multi-purpose hall. The congregation are committed to putting its building at the service of the local community. On Sundays it is turned into a worship space, whilst for the rest of the week it is heavily used by community groups, such as St Fillan’s Playgroup, OSCARS After School Club, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, Brownies and Guides, Country Dancing, Dance Fit and the Community Choir.
St Fillan’s supports St Catharine’s Convent’s work with homeless people and collects food each week, and warm clothing in winter. We also support many charities, local and abroad.
We hope to be a welcoming and inclusive community;
a place where you will find prayer, song, silence and sacrament;
and a safe place for all irrespective of age, race, gender, tradition, sexuality, disability or health.
Young children are especially welcome and we have an area with toys where they may play during the service. We don’t mind squawks and shouts one little bit. We might even join in!
We do have a ramp down the side of the church which gives access via the kitchen. However, this does not give access to the toilets. There are two steps at the entrance to the church which do give access to the toilets.
We do have a Loop System in the Church building but not in the Chapel.
